My shutter speed test was lying to me for years
I always used the same beat up shutter tester from the 1980s, trusted it blindly for every CLA job, and never second guessed the numbers until a customer brought in a Nikon F2 and complained about underexposure on half the frame. I ran the body through my routine, tester said 1/1000 was spot on, but the negs kept showing a sticky second curtain that the tester just couldn't catch. Has anyone else found that old electronic testers miss mechanical lag, or should I just switch to a high speed sensor setup already?
