Thought that $15 dry sack from the gas station would leak on day one but it's been two seasons and my clothes stay bone dry
Took it on a rainy 4-day trip in the Smokies last fall and everything inside stayed dry even after I dropped it in a creek, has anyone else had cheap gear surprise them like that?

Well I'll be damned, I used to be one of those people who swore you had to spend big money on gear or it would fall apart. A buddy of mine gave me a cheap old camp stove that looked like it came from a garage sale and I figured it would blow up on me. But that thing has been through maybe 20 trips now and still fires up every time like it was brand new. It really makes you wonder if some of that expensive brand name stuff is just marketing hype. Guess you never know what's gonna be a hidden gem and what's gonna let you down.

That marketing hype line really hits the nail on the head. I've seen plenty of friends drop serious cash on the fanciest tent only to have the zipper break on the third trip. It's like sometimes the simple stuff that was built to just work ends up being the real winner, you know what I mean?
