TIL the hard way that river stones can crack a sleeping pad in one night

Camped along the Deschutes River last month and woke up on cold wet ground because a sharp pebble punched right through my Therm-a-Rest, so I'm ditching the footprint for a proper groundsheet and has anyone else had this happen with a brand new pad?
