A professor at my school got a warning for showing a political cartoon in class

It happened in a poli-sci lecture at Ohio State about two weeks ago. The cartoon was from a newspaper and showed both parties in a bad light, but someone complained it was 'targeted harassment.' The department head sent an email saying the material 'created a hostile environment' and told the prof to stick to the textbook. I always thought those free speech warnings were overblown, but seeing a teacher get in trouble for something that basic changed my mind. Has anyone else seen a teacher get pushback for using regular news stuff in class?

Not vetted curriculum" just sounds like a fancy way to say they don't like it... it's a news clip, not a training video. People get too worked up over this stuff.

Honestly, that's wild. A poli-sci class is exactly where that stuff should be shown. My high school history teacher got a talking to for using a clip from a late night talk show to talk about media bias. It was literally just a joke about politicians. The admin said it was "not vetted curriculum.
