Ngl, defending a rally I opposed showed me what free speech really means

Honestly, when a group on campus held a rally for a cause I disagree with, I felt torn. Tbh, part of me wanted to ignore it, but I knew shutting it down wasn't fair. So I spoke up in a meeting when people said it should be stopped. We ended up with a quiet chat about why even tough talks matter. It felt like a win for letting everyone have a say, and I'm happy I stepped in.

Protecting speech you hate is where free speech gets real.

What about when that speech calls for real harm? Free speech actually means the government can't jail you for ideas. It doesn't mean my crew has to listen to some guy ranting about hurting people on the job site. There's a line.

Guess I'm the test case then, because I definitely hate my own opinions sometimes. Free speech means I have to listen to past me ranting in old group chats. It's a tough rule but a fair one.
