A mod in a gardening group told me my advice on using coffee grounds was 'harmful misinformation' and locked the thread...

I was just sharing what worked for my azaleas in Portland for 3 years, but they said it alters soil pH too much without citing a university study, so now I just lurk and don't post my own fixes anymore.

Drives me up a wall. My local rose society forum is the same way. I mentioned using a bit of aspirin water for shock after transplanting, something old timers have done forever, and got hit with a warning for "unverified folk remedies." It wasn't a debate, just a quick tip that works. This gatekeeping just pushes out the hands on experience. Now the forums feel sterile, just the same textbook answers repeated.

Man that drives me nuts. I had a tomato group mod delete my post about using eggshells because I didn't have a "peer reviewed source," just years of doing it. It's like if your plants are healthy, that's data too, right? My grandma's fix isn't in a study but her garden was amazing. Now I just save the real talk for my actual gardening friends.
