That week I got banned from 4 local FB groups for posting the same construction safety complaint

Last month I tried to warn people about a crew working on scaffolds without harnesses near 5th and Main. Three different neighborhood groups deleted my posts within an hour. The fourth one banned me permanently. The mod said I was 'spreading unverified fear'. Two days later a guy fell off that same scaffold and broke his ankle. Has anyone else had local groups silence safety stuff because they're friends with the contractor?

Five years ago I got banned from the city safety board for posting photos of a crew working without hard hats on a residential job. The owner of the company was a mod on that board. My advice is to start your own private group just for safety complaints and share it with people you trust offline. That way you control who sees it and no one can delete your posts. You can also report the contractor directly to OSHA online, they take anonymous tips seriously and it keeps you out of the group drama. The groups that ban you for this stuff usually have something to hide anyway.

Took a photo of a dump truck blocking a fire lane near a school pickup zone a couple years back. Posted it in the local moms group thinking people would want to know. Instead I got flooded with messages calling me a busybody and the admin threatened to ban me if I kept posting 'negative content'. The truck was back the next morning blocking the same spot. Had a friend whose apartment complex had a broken fire alarm for six months and the tenant group deleted every post about it because the landlord was one of the mods sponsors. Makes you wonder who's actually running those groups sometimes.
