Can we talk about choosing between a $12k pay bump and keeping my remote setup?
I was offered a hybrid job in Chicago paying $12k more but I turned it down to stay remote from my apartment in Austin. Six months in, I'm saving about $400 a month on gas and lunches, but I still wonder if I messed up the long game. Anyone else had to weigh a raise against their work setup like this?
Chicago winters alone would eat that $12k with the commute and coats. Saving $400 a month in Austin plus zero commute stress is worth way more than the raise long term.
