Cutting plywood in my driveway taught me more than 10 years on site

Back when I started in 2019, I always broke down sheets in the shop with a track saw and thought that was the only way. Then last spring I had to rip 12 sheets of 3/4 inch plywood on the tailgate of my truck outside in Tacoma because the shop was being repainted. The wind, the uneven supports, and having to clamp everything twice made me realize I'd been overcomplicating it at home. Now I keep a cheap straightedge and a circular saw in the truck, and honestly my cuts are cleaner on site than they ever were in the shop. Anyone else found that working in awkward spots forces you to slow down and actually measure twice?

Man, Tacoma rain and a tailgate setup will definitely humble you. I did the same thing with some wet OSB last fall, and you're right, slowing down is the real lesson.
