I always thought those magnetic wristbands for holding screws were a gimmick.

My brother got me one for my birthday, a cheap one from Harbor Freight. I tossed it in a drawer for months. Then I was up on a ladder installing some crown molding in a tight corner, dropping a screw for the third time. Out of pure frustration, I put it on. Held every single 1 1/4 inch trim screw I needed for the rest of the job. My hands were free to hold the molding and the nail gun. I'm not saying it's life changing, but for five bucks, it saved me a solid twenty minutes of climbing up and down. What's a tool you wrote off that actually earned a spot in your bag?

Yeah, the "climbing up and down" part is so real. I felt the same way about those telescoping magnetic pickup tools. Total junk, I thought. Then I dropped a key down a heating vent. Fished it out in two seconds with the stupid thing. Now it lives in my kitchen drawer for when forks fall behind the fridge.

Exactly what happened with my cheap grabber tool, @skylercooper. I bought it for a single job and thought it was pointless. Then my kid's toy rolled under the couch and I didn't have to move the whole thing. That thing is now my favorite piece of junk. It saves me from bending over fifty times a day.
