Had a sit-down with a homeowner who knew more about glue-down than I did
This older lady in Des Moines stopped me mid-install to ask why I wasn't using a 1/16 notch trowel for her vinyl-backed carpet. I laughed at first, but she pulled out a binder of notes from her late husband who'd been a fitter for 30 years. We spent an hour chatting over her kitchen table about seam placement and moisture tests, and honestly, she pointed out two spots I would've missed. She didn't work the trade a day in her life, but that conversation made me double-check my prep work before every job since. Any of you had a customer drop some unexpected wisdom that caught you off guard?

A binder of carpet notes, that's a whole other level of dedication.
