Watched the 1984 Dune and the 2021 Dune back to back and hoo boy
The old one cut stuff that made the plot make zero sense, while the new one kept the weird stuff and actually trusted viewers to follow along. Two hours vs four hours total and the longer one felt shorter, how does that work?
The 1984 one's pacing dragged so bad I used to just write it off as a bad movie, but watching them back to back made me realize the new one earns its runtime by keeping the story tight.
