Went to the Newseum in DC before it closed and the whole censorship wall stuck with me
I finally made it to the Newseum in Washington DC back in 2018, about a year before it shut down, and there was this whole section on books that got pulled from schools and libraries over time. They had a big display showing stuff like The Diary of Anne Frank and even some Dr. Seuss titles that got challenged, and it listed the years each one got fought over. What got me was how many of those fights were local, like one school board in a small town deciding for thousands of kids. My mom told me she read a ton of those same books in the 70s and nobody blinked. Now I see the same titles getting argued about again and it feels like we just loop back around every couple decades. Did anyone else get to see that exhibit before the place closed?
