Caught a Reddit mod hiding a screenshot with a Discord invite overlay, so I used print screen instead

So a mod in r/facepalm kept deleting my screenshot of a removed Facebook post and said it was "low effort." I had two options: fight the removal through modmail for days, or just crop the image myself and upload it to imgur with a big red circle. I picked the crop and got 4.2k upvotes in 6 hours before a different mod locked the thread. The overlay trick they use is a 300x80 PNG with the sub name on it, and it shows up on old.reddit too. Has anyone found a cleaner way to strip those watermarks without losing image quality?
