Finally got a real knife sharpener and it changed my whole week
Honestly, I spent about $60 on a basic whetstone set last month after my old knives were just tearing up herbs. Tried it out on my main chef's knife last night and ngl, the difference is crazy. It went through a pile of onions like they were butter. Has anyone else found a good way to keep the angle steady while you're learning?

Watched my buddy use a sharpie to draw a line on the edge of his knife before he started. He colored the whole bevel with the marker, then took a few practice strokes on the stone. It showed him exactly where he was hitting and where he was messing up the angle. He said it was a total game-changer for getting it right.

Yeah that sharpie trick is legit. I do it on all my kitchen knives, @skyler_mitchell. Lets you see if you're holding the angle steady or rolling your wrist. If the ink's only coming off the heel or the tip, you know you're rocking the blade. Saves so much time guessing.
