Wasted $150 on a fancy mandoline that couldn't slice a tomato without bruising it

Yeah I had the same problem. @tylerr39 is right the cheap plastic ones handle soft stuff way better.

Man the problem is you're trying to slice tomatoes on a mandoline at all. Those things are designed for hard vegetables like carrots and potatoes where you need even pressure. A tomato's skin is tough but the inside is basically jelly so any blade pushing down from above is gonna squish it. You gotta use a serrated knife for tomatoes and slice gently so the teeth grab the skin without crushing the flesh. I learned that after ruining a whole batch of heirlooms for a caprese salad and my buddy laughed at me for being an idiot.

Check the thickness setting before you buy next time, a lot of those fancy ones are built for presentation not practical use. In my experience the cheaper plastic ones with adjustable blades work way better for soft stuff like tomatoes and berries. Your mileage may vary but I've had a basic OXO for years and it still handles tomatoes without turning them into mush.
