Rant: I dropped $180 on ceramic brake pads for my 68 Mustang and now I'm scared to stop hard
I put those pads on my 68 Mustang about 4 months ago because a guy at the parts counter in Anaheim swore they would cut down on dust. First cold morning in my driveway, I tapped the pedal and the car barely slowed down. It felt like stopping a shopping cart on ice until the pads warmed up after a few blocks. I called the shop back and they said that is just how ceramic works and I should have known. So now I want to know, does anyone actually run ceramic on an old single piston caliper car, or did I just waste $180?
Plenty of guys run ceramics on old muscle cars and live with the cold grab being a little soft for the first few stops. Sounds more like an annoyance than a real safety problem once they warm up.
