Serious question, does polishing a single stage paint actually get easier if you do it in small sections?
I bought a 1968 Ford F-100 about 7 months ago and the red paint was chalky and dull everywhere. Last Saturday I tried something different, I taped off just the driver door and polished it in 2x2 foot sections with a cheap Harbor Freight DA and some Meguiar's compound. After about 40 minutes that one door looked deep and wet compared to the rest of the truck, like a totally different paint job. Turns out I was rushing the whole truck before and never letting the compound break down all the way, so I was just smearing it around. Has anyone else had luck doing a panel at a time on a whole vehicle instead of trying to knock it out in a weekend?
