My neighborhood's compost bin experiment turned into a rat problem
We set up a communal compost drop-off at the community garden last month, and by week two the rats found it. I get that composting is better than the landfill, but has anyone else figured out a bin setup that actually keeps rodents out without making it impossible for neighbors to use?

Rat-proofing is basically my superpower now, and by superpower I mean I've lost three bins to chew marks this summer alone. The only thing that worked at our place was switching to a metal trash can with a locking lid, but then my neighbor put a sign on it saying "for humans only" and that solved nothing. Rats still got in through the hinge somehow, probably because I forgot to empty it for two weeks straight. Honestly, if you find a bin that keeps out both rodents and my habit of procrastinating, let me know, because I think that's the real test.
