The week my town's creek turned orange
About three months ago, after a big storm, the little creek behind my house in southern Ohio just changed color. It went from its normal muddy brown to this weird, bright orange, like rust. It was scary to see. I called the county environmental office and they said it was likely acid mine drainage from an old, abandoned coal mine upstream, something that happens when rainwater hits the exposed rock. It made the whole problem feel so real and close to home, not just something on the news. I ended up volunteering with a local group that's trying to plant willows and other stuff along the banks to help filter the water. Has anyone else had to deal with something like this in their own backyard, and what did you do about it?

That's terrifying. Good on you for getting involved.

Wait, what part is terrifying? I saw the original post and it was just someone asking for help to move a couch. Did I miss a reply somewhere that made it scary?
