Rant: my $18 hand grinder beat my $140 electric one in a blind taste test

I did a blind test at my kitchen table in Denver last week with 4 friends and 2 identical bags of beans from a local roaster. The cheap hand grinder gave a more even grind and the cups tasted sweeter, while the electric one left clumps and a bitter edge nobody could miss. I wanted the electric to win since it takes 3 seconds instead of 45 cranks, but 3 out of 4 people picked the hand grinder cup first. Anyone else find a cheap tool beating a pricey one in a side by side?
