The ACLU lawyer made me flip on campus speech codes

Used to think banning a speaker was fine if they were offensive. Then last month I heard David Cole speak at a panel in Ann Arbor, he framed it like a traffic rule. You can regulate time and place but not the idea itself, that clicked for me. Now I actually read the policy before signing petitions, has anyone else shifted on this after hearing a lawyer explain it?

Tbh it took a lawyer to explain traffic rules to me too, and I still run stop signs.
