Thought a heckler at our UC Davis talk proved my point, then he asked one question and I switched sides
Last month I helped run a free speech panel at UC Davis and a guy in the third row kept shouting over the speaker, so I was sure he was just there to wreck it. During Q&A he asked the speaker one calm question about a study the speaker had misquoted, the speaker froze for a second and then admitted he got the number wrong, and I sat there feeling like a fool for assuming the loud guy was the problem. How do you all tell the difference between someone there to shut a talk down and someone there to actually test it?
