PSA: I just lost $150 on a 'mint condition' Silver Surfer #4 that was a total reprint
Bought it off a guy at a con in Cleveland last weekend. He had a whole story about it being from his dad's collection, and the cover looked perfect. Got it home, looked at it under a good light, and the paper felt wrong. Checked the indicia and the print date was from 2010, not 1969. It's a high quality reprint glued into an old cover. I'm out the cash and just feel stupid. Always, always bring a loupe and check the inside details before you hand over money, especially with older keys. Has anyone else been burned by a fake that looked this good up close?

Did you check if the con had any official policy for dealers selling fakes? Some bigger shows will step in and help if you report a seller like that.
