Spent 6 hours trying to fix a trowel that just needed a new handle
I kept blaming the blade for gouging my finish, turns out a loose handle was throwing my angle off by a hair. Has anyone else wasted a whole day on a tool problem that wasn't even the tool?

Learned that lesson with a circular saw last month. Had me chasing phantom alignment issues when the base plate just needed tightening.

I hear what you're saying about the base plate causing alignment issues, but I don't think a loose base plate explains all phantom problems. A lot of times it's actually the blade arbor getting gunked up or the saw's depth stop being off by a hair. Tightening the base plate might fix it sometimes, but I've had better luck checking the main alignment first.
