Tried a 5-gallon bucket of that new 'fast set' patch mix versus a standard bag of topping mix for a repair job last week.

The fast set stuff was supposed to save time, but it started kicking in the bucket before I could even get it all out. Had to toss half of it. The regular topping mix gave me a good 45 minutes of work time, and the finish came out way smoother. Ended up taking longer overall to chip out and redo the fast set mess. Anyone got a fast-set brand that actually works as advertised, or is it all a scam?

Ever try mixing it in smaller batches?

What about just mixing a tiny bit of the fast set with the regular stuff? I mean, it gave me a bit more time to work with it.

Used to think fast set was the answer, but wasting half a bucket changed my mind real quick.
