That $400 spray foam insulation kit I bought off a truck still stings 3 years later

Guy pulled up to my house in an unmarked van, said he had leftover foam from a commercial job. Seemed legit, he was a former contractor buddy's cousin. Paid cash, he sprayed it in my attic. Stuff never fully cured right, still smells like chemicals when it gets hot. Had to pay another crew $1200 to dig it all out and do it proper. Has anyone else been burned by a too good to be true deal on material?

Getting a recommendation from the guy who sold it might have helped me avoid that mess. Learned the hard way that paying full price at a real supply house beats trusting a random van deal any day. Now I always check the manufacturer's website for authorized sellers before buying anything pricier than caulk.

Nah, a little smell in the attic doesn't sound like the end of the world to me.
