Showerthought: I thought ginkgo trees were just stinky sidewalk trees until I saw one in Seoul
For years I walked past the ginkgos on my street in Queens and only noticed the rotten butter smell from the fallen fruit every October. Then my sister sent me a photo from a temple in Seoul where a 500 year old ginkgo was turning solid gold, and I looked up that the species is basically a living fossil that has barely changed in 200 million years. Now I want to know, is there a ginkgo near you that actually made you stop and stare?
