TIL that roughing up the cuticle before a perm actually makes the curl last way longer
Did a perm on my client Dana in March and her curls lasted almost 5 months instead of the usual 6 to 8 weeks, and the only thing I changed was prepping her hair with a little more tension and a rough towel dry right before wrapping. My mentor at the salon in Providence always said the cuticle decides everything and I finally believe her. Anyone else notice their perms holding way longer when they skip the deep condition the day before?
Been there with clients whose perms dropped in 3 weeks and it's so frustrating. Roughing up the cuticle makes total sense, that outer layer really does control everything. Glad Dana's held up that long, that's a win.
