30 foot drop changed my mind about using a spotter
Tbh I always thought spotters were for rookies or tight spots. Last month in Tulsa I was picking a 4,000 lb HVAC unit off a roof and a gust swung it right into a brick parapet. The guy on the ground yelled 'swing left NOW' and I barely cleared a window. He saw the wind pattern before I felt it, and that one call saved me a 30 foot drop and a bucket of paperwork. Now I never run a pick without a second set of eyes, even on wide open sites. Anyone else got a ground guy story that made you change your routine?
