Am I the only one who thinks writing prompts should skip the fantasy and stick to real life settings?

I spent 6 months forcing myself to write about dragons and magic worlds only to realize my best stories came from that coffee shop scene I actually lived last Tuesday, not from some made-up realm, so has anyone else had better luck grounding prompts in everyday places like grocery stores or bus stops?

Nah, fantasy doesn't have to be made-up realms there are plenty of real-life magical moments too.

See I gotta push back on that a little. Real life is cool and all but the whole point of fantasy is to escape into someplace completely different. Like when I read about dragons or magic systems I don't want it reminding me of my day job or bills. Real life magical moments are just... normal stuff that feels nice. That's not the same as building a whole world from scratch where anything can happen. If I wanted real life I'd just go outside. Fantasy is fantasy because it takes you somewhere else completely.
