Hit me at 3AM that I was writing prompts backwards

I used to write prompts that gave the whole story away. Like 'A knight finds a dragon egg and must decide whether to destroy it or hide it.' Then last month I submitted one to a local writing group and this lady asked me 'so where's the actual prompt?' I thought the scenario WAS the prompt. She pointed out I was basically writing a summary, not leaving any room for the writer to make choices. Since then I've been trying to start with just a situation or a line of dialogue and stopping there. It's way harder than it sounds. Anybody else have that moment where they realized they were over-explaining their prompts?
