I was at the old train station in St. Louis and saw a locked door with 'Archive 7' stenciled on it.
It got me thinking about a prompt where a character finds a key that only works on doors that shouldn't exist. Anyone have a good starter for that kind of weird setting?

Wait, a locked door at a train station?

What kind of stuff do you think is behind Archive 7? My first thought was old train schedules, but that's probably just my boring life talking. Your key idea is great for a story. Maybe the key feels warm in your hand when it's near one of those wrong doors. The real trouble starts when a door appears somewhere totally normal, like in your own hallway, and the key just fits.

What if the warmth isn't just a signal, but a warning? You're holding the key in your own hallway and it starts to burn your palm. The door looks just like your closet door, but when you turn the key, it opens onto a silent, empty train platform you've never seen. The schedule board is blank, and the only train is one that was retired decades ago. The door shuts behind you, and the key goes cold.
