Builder in Tucson quoted us $412k then went silent for 3 weeks over a $900 window change
We signed a preliminary agreement back in February with a builder here in Tucson for a 2,400 sq ft custom home and things were moving along fine until we asked about swapping two windows on the north side. Our contact, let's call him Dave, sends me a revised quote of $412,000 with the window change adding $900, which seemed fair. Then nothing. Three weeks of emails, two voicemails, and a text where I could see he read it. When I finally got him on the phone he says he's been "waiting on the window vendor" which made zero sense since we hadn't even picked a brand yet. What really got me was when he said "most clients just trust the process" like I was being unreasonable for wanting a simple answer. We are now out $2,500 in a design deposit and starting over with another builder who actually returns calls. Has anyone else dealt with a builder who goes radio silent the second you ask a normal question about a change order?
