Contractors keep putting in subfloor wrong and it drives me crazy

I was helping a buddy check on his new build last month in Austin and noticed the subfloor had these huge gaps between sheets. The builder said oh it'll be covered by the hardwood so it's fine. But that's just asking for squeaky floors down the road. I've seen it in three different houses now where guys skip the glue and just screw down the plywood. How do you get someone to actually follow the manufacturer's instructions on things like expansion gaps?

Bet money those builders think glue is just optional decoration or something. Tell your buddy to grab a case of beer and stand there watching them until they actually read the instructions.

Optional decoration" is such a perfect way to put it lol. @eva_ward88 I honestly think some of these guys treat glue like a suggestion in a recipe you can just skip, it's wild.
