Comparing two churches side by side for 3 months changed my whole view on services

I visited a megachurch with a full band and lights for 8 Sundays, then a small congregation that just does hymns and a sermon. The big one felt like a show, people clapped but nobody talked to me after. The small one had 40 people max, but three different folks invited me to lunch in the first visit. I kept thinking bigger equaled better, but the actual community part was way stronger in the tiny place. Has anyone else done a side by side like this and flipped their preference?
