Am I the only one who thinks the new coffee spot on Woodward is going to hurt the cafe on John R?
I run a small property on Woodward near the new development and I have been watching foot traffic for the past 6 weeks. The new place opened with a ton of hype and now the line is out the door every morning, while the old cafe two blocks down on John R looks half empty when I walk past at 8am. I know the owner there, he has been grinding for 7 years and his lease is up in March, and I am honestly worried he will not make it. I get that new spots bring energy to the block, but it feels like people are just chasing the shiny thing instead of sticking with the guy who has been there. It is not like the coffee is even that much better, I tried both and the new one is fine, nothing special. Maybe I am overthinking it, but I have seen this movie before in other parts of the city. Any other owners on Woodward seeing this shift, or is it just me?
