My niece said my digital art looked too clean to be real

She's 12 and told me my latest piece, a fantasy forest scene, looked 'like a video game, not a painting' because the textures were too perfect. It made me think about how much we smooth out imperfections in our work. Do you aim for a flawless digital look, or do you add in some 'mess' on purpose?

Feel that, kids are brutally honest. I mean, maybe adding a little mess makes it feel more real.
