A mod in a 40k member history group deleted my post about a local statue, and his reason made me rethink how I share stuff
Six weeks ago I posted a photo in a big history group of a Confederate statue that got taken down in my town, and I just wrote what the plaque said and when it came down. The post got removed in under an hour and the mod messaged me saying it was 'too political' even though I never shared an opinion on it. I argued with him for a bit and he told me that on their platform, anything about statues like that gets auto flagged by users and once it hits a certain number of reports, the mods basically have to pull it or the whole group gets in trouble. That part stuck with me more than the removal itself, because it means a small group of people can bury stuff just by mass reporting, not by any real rule being broken. I used to post links and screenshots of removed posts in that group to call out what I thought was unfair, but now I just save everything to a folder on my own drive first. I also started checking whether a platform tells you WHY a post got pulled or if it just says 'violates community standards' with no detail, because that difference matters a lot when you are trying to figure out if it was a real rule or just a mob. Curious if anyone here has dealt with report brigading like this and what you do to keep a record of it before it disappears.
