My comment got auto flagged on a news site for quoting the article itself
Last Tuesday I was reading a local news piece in Boise about a city council vote and left a comment quoting one sentence straight from the article, word for word. About ten minutes later I got a notice that my comment was hidden for violating their conduct rules, even though I had not added a single opinion of my own. I sent two appeals and got the same copy pasted reply both times, no human ever looked at it as far as I can tell. What really gets me is that the reporter's own sentence was fine on the page, but the second I repeated it in the comment box it became a problem. I started keeping screenshots of stuff like this in a folder, and this one makes number 14 so far this year. Has anyone had any luck getting a platform to actually explain an automated flag, or is the appeal button just for show at this point?
