The real story here is who gets to decide what counts as news. Substack has almost no staff checking posts, so stuff stays up. Facebook has thousands of people and computers scanning everything, and anything with certain words or locations gets flagged fast. A protest in Nairobi probably hits a bunch of those triggers, so it gets pulled before a human even looks at it. The part that bugs me is this stuff always seems to work the same way, posts about protests in some countries get zapped quick while other stuff sits there for years. It is not really about the content, it is about who built the system and what they told it to be scared of.
