When my ironic post about cereal was mistaken for hate speech
I posted a deliberately over-the-top critique of a popular breakfast cereal on a food forum, using obvious hyperbole. Within minutes, the comment was removed for violating community guidelines against 'inflammatory rhetoric,' which highlighted how automated systems can miss contextual sarcasm. Do you think platforms are becoming too sensitive to figurative language at the expense of genuine discussion?

Tone indicators saved my skin. Started adding /s or /j after my sarcastic posts. Mods still get it wrong sometimes, but it helps the algorithm maybe.

On the Brightside forum, I saw a mod delete a post marked /j just yesterday. It's like the mods have a sarcasm detector from the Stone Age, honestly. Maybe the algorithm prioritizes confusion over clarity, who knows. I've started adding /sarcasm in full, but that just feels redundant. At this point, we might need a tone indicator for the tone indicators...

Posted a sarcastic comment with /j and still caught a warning for 'misleading content,' lol. My own tone indicator backfired so hard I started doubting my sense of humor. Now I write lengthy explanations that sound more like legal disclaimers than jokes. Maybe we need a /please-don't-delete-this indicator at this point.
