The $90 stud finder that lied to me twice on one wall
I was hanging shelves in my laundry room last Saturday and that fancy stud finder kept blinking green right where I drilled into nothing twice, patched both holes with spackle. Turns out the old plaster over metal lath in my 1948 bungalow was tricking the sensor, so I switched to tapping the wall with a penny and it worked better. Anyone else dealt with old walls that make electronic finders useless, and what do you use instead?
