Question about layer line counts on residential plans
I was cleaning out my old project files this weekend and counted how many layers I've used across my last 5 residential sets. Total came to 47 different layers, not counting xrefs. That number surprised me because I remember back in 2008 when I started at a small firm in Columbus, we ran everything on maybe 12 layers and made it work. Now I'm wondering if I'm overcomplicating things or if this is just where the industry has gone with all the annotation and coordination requirements. How many layers do you typically keep in a standard house plan set?
Heard a guy on a podcast say he keeps around 30 for his house plans, mostly for the note and dim layers. Sounds like 47 is on the high side but not crazy given how much tagging we do now.
