Went to a shop in Austin and saw drafting on a tablet instead of paper

I've been a paper and pencil guy for 15 years, always thought digital drafting felt too fussy and removed from the real work. But last month I stopped by a small engineering firm in Austin while visiting a friend, and one of their drafters showed me how she marks up PDFs directly on a tablet with a stylus. She pulled up a complex floor plan, zoomed right in on a tricky corner, and sketched a revision in under a minute without erasing anything or pulling out a new sheet. Watching her flip between layers and grab measurements from a CAD cloud file made me realize how much time I waste digging through paper stacks. It looked cleaner and faster than anything I do now, and she said it cut her revision time by half. Has anyone else here made the switch from paper to a tablet, and did it take you long to get used to it?

Oh man, I was totally the same way! I used to think digital drafting was just a gimmick for people who didnt want to get their hands dirty with paper. But then I watched a friend do a revision on a tablet at a coffee shop and it blew my mind. She had this huge set of construction docs loaded up and flipped between sections without losing her place or getting papers all over the table. It honestly made me feel like Ive been working in slow motion all these years.

Oh man, I had the exact same reaction! Used to swear by my mechanical pencil and graph paper, thought tablets were just for artists and kids playing games. But then a buddy of mine pulled up a PDF on his iPad at lunch and showed me how he can drop in a revision note right where the problem is, no printing needed. He zoomed into a plumbing detail that would've taken me forever to find in a stack of rolled up plans. Seeing him just save a new version and email it to the client in two clicks made me feel like I'd been working with a rock and chisel this whole time. Definitely changed my mind about the whole setup.
