Had to redo a whole ceiling before I learned to wet my tape properly
I spent about 5 years taping drywall the exact same way every time. Wet the tape, slap it on, smooth it out. Then about 3 months ago I was working a ceiling job in a old basement in Des Moines and the tape kept bubbling up no matter what I did. My foreman walked over, watched me for a minute, and said "you're putting too much mud under there, man." Turned out I was overloading the joint and the tape had nowhere to go. Cut my mud back by half and the bubbles stopped instantly. Has anyone else had a moment where a simple tweak like that saved them from redoing whole days of work?
