Seen a lot of cracked corners lately and it's bugging me
I've been on three jobs this month where the drywall corners are cracking after a few weeks. The weather's been all over the place, so I'm wondering if it's the mud or the tape. Nobody on the crew has a solid answer, and we're all just patching them up. It feels like we're missing something basic here.

Ever think it could be the backing board shifting? I've seen that cause cracks long after the mud sets... Might be worth a look before just patching again.

Yeah, my buddy had that exact thing happen... he kept filling a hairline crack over his window and it kept coming back. Drove him nuts for like a year. Finally cut out a bigger section and found the drywall screw had missed the stud completely, so the whole board was just flexing. He had to anchor it back properly before the mud would finally hold.

How does that even happen for a whole year lol, maybe @nelson.iris is onto something?
