A simple fan repair has me worried about all the electronics we throw away

I fixed a table fan last week that was headed for the curb. It just needed a new switch and some cleaning. This small job got me thinking about how many devices get tossed for tiny issues. I often see items that could be saved with a little effort. It feels wrong to let them go to waste when we can give them more years. I wonder how other repair people handle this. What do you do to promote fixing things?

Totally get that feeling, it's frustrating seeing so much stuff get trashed. I try to fix what I can and show people how easy some repairs are when they ask.

Ugh but honestly sometimes things ARE meant to be thrown out. New stuff is cheaper and works better than a janky repair half the time.
