Fixing a phone screen at a family dinner did not go as planned

My uncle handed me his phone with a cracked screen right as we sat down to eat. I had my repair kit in the car, so I figured why not help out quick. As I was swapping the screen, my cousin started going off about how fixing stuff yourself is a waste of time. Suddenly, the whole table was arguing about planned obsolescence and repair costs. I just wanted to get the job done, but I ended up in the middle of a family feud over tech. It was kinda wild how a basic repair sparked all that drama. On the bright side, the phone works fine now, and I learned to avoid bringing my tools to holiday meals.

Watched the same thing happen when my brother tried to fix his laptop. Those repair talks always blow up into big fights about money and trash. Like when my mom's kettle broke, half the family said buy new, the other half said find the part. It's weird how a simple fix turns into a whole thing about the world. Makes you just want to fix it in silence. Your cousin start that fight just to be difficult or does he really hate fixing stuff?
