Just read that over 60 countries now have laws that can force you to hand over your phone password
I found this in a report from a group called Privacy International last month. It said police in places like the UK and Australia can jail you if you refuse to unlock your device. That really hit me, because I always thought my passcode was my last line of defense. How do you even plan for that kind of legal pressure?

That idea about your passcode being your last line of defense is where I see it differently. If the police have a warrant, they can already search your house or your car. Your phone is just another place they might need to look for evidence in a serious case. I'm more worried about hackers than the law following the right steps. The real problem is when these powers get misused, not that they exist at all.

My friend's landlord let himself in last week because he said the lease allowed it... it's that slow creep of access. You give up a little control here, a little there, and then it's just normal.
